Putting the planning together is like doing a giant puzzle. Exactly a complicated Sudoku!

Meet Els & Charlotte, the ladies behind HR. What they do? Recruit new talents, pay the salaries and put the planning together. But it goes much further than that. "We make sure everyone is happy, that the floor runs smoothly and that the Infiniti team grows. Our department is called Human Resources. With the emphasis on Human, because our people are everything! So we like to let them feel that too."

 

Evolutionary process

Els: For 23 years I have been a familiar face to our customers, thanks to my long-standing career as slot manager. But since two years, I have been working full-time behind the scenes. I particularly enjoyed spending time in the games room, but feel even better in this position. Working with people is very intriguing. They have the fine quality of positively surprising you with their goodwill, nice ideas or solidarity initiatives. When someone suggests of their own accord to fill in for a colleague, that makes me happy.

 

Charlotte: People are also the reason why I chose this job. I walked in here for the first time a year ago and I am incredibly happy with my choice! HR goes much further than just administration; Els and I want to keep it mostly personal. Colleagues know they can always call us, for big and small things. Some make a complete career switch here, others just come from school. You get to experience each person's evolutionary process. It's great fun to be able to see them develop from the front row!

 

Els: Here, you can keep growing. For those who want to, there is always a new challenge waiting. Casino Ostend has expanded enormously in a short time, thanks to the arrival of the Infiniti group. Infiniti Casino Dinant, Infiniti Resort Hotel "La Merveilleuse", Brassi Grand Café, Brassi Beach Terrace, Brassi Sky Lounge and Hotel Ter Streep are now part of the family. And we continue to grow! So we are always looking for new staff. I prefer to be surprised during a job interview and am always open to getting to know someone. Often your attitude, motivation and drive are much more important than a richly filled CV. It is not always what is on paper that counts.

 

Job for puzzle fans

Charlotte: What can employees come to us for? I prefer to ask the question differently: what can they not come to us for? From a relationship break-up and co-parenting to adjusting the schedule for colleagues who want to see their sweetheart more often. We think along with every question and look for solutions that make everyone happy. We ask a lot from colleagues, so they are certainly allowed to ask for something in return. It's always a bit of give and take.

 

Els: That is indeed our motto. Putting together the schedule of more than 250 staff is like making a giant jigsaw puzzle that keeps shifting. We make sure that everyone with the right qualifications is in the right place at the right time. And when someone falls ill, even if it is at the weekend or at four in the morning, we keep puzzling until everything fits nicely again. No solution is not an option.

 

Charlotte: Indeed, we are actually constantly sudokuing with schedules! (laughs)

 

Dream team

Els: The best moment I have already experienced at HR? Undoubtedly the arrival of Charlotte. Funnily enough, I didn't recruit her myself! But it clicked incredibly well right away. We have so many similarities that we even made a list to figure out our differences. Charlotte drinks Spa and doesn't eat bananas. We haven't discovered more than that yet! (laughs)

 

Charlotte: Els taught me everything, thanks to her I got a lot of
grown. Very nice that we work in an environment where everyone supports each other. And that is so with all colleagues. The casino is something special. It sometimes feels like a separate world that never stands still, where we are in it together as one family. We often work hardest at times when other people are at home. But I just like that, nine-to-five is not for me. Job interviews on Sundays, why not? Els: Our job never stops. An agenda? There isn't one! Often our daily schedule is completely turned upside down after three minutes. But that variety is just nice. Give us lots of challenge, that's what we like best!
